Terms of use

Effective October 25, 2026. These terms apply to GovBot Earthquakes & Landslides at earthquakes.govbot.ai, operated by Ideation Lab, Corp.

Permitted use

Use this read-only service for public-record research. No sign-in or purchase is required. Respect rate limits and the published terms of the agency services. Do not attempt to bypass access controls, disrupt the service or submit confidential information.

Source qualifications

Preserve the stated agency, service, query period, minimum magnitude and retrieval time when reusing results. Earthquake catalog completeness varies by magnitude, region and era; historical locations and magnitudes are estimates, and magnitudes of different types are not directly comparable. ShakeMap values are modelled estimates and Did You Feel It? values are voluntary reports. The landslide inventory compiles existing inventories of differing scope, method and date, and absence of a record does not establish absence of landslides. An unavailable source is not evidence about any event.

Limits of the service

The service reports records of past events. It is not a forecast or prediction, a building-safety, engineering, geotechnical or insurance determination, or an alerting or warning source; for current alerts and emergency instructions use official warning channels. Records are provided as available without a guarantee of completeness, timeliness or fitness for a particular decision. GovBot is not affiliated with or endorsed by the U.S. Geological Survey, the Census Bureau or any government agency. Nothing here limits rights that cannot be excluded under applicable law.
