GovBot Earthquakes & Landslides
Read-only access to U.S. Geological Survey records of past earthquakes and mapped landslides: earthquakes within a radius of a location, earthquake counts and the largest earthquakes for a U.S. state or a radius, details of one earthquake, significant earthquakes in a period, and landslides recorded near a location. No account or sign-in is required.
Sources
- U.S. Geological Survey, Earthquake Catalog (ComCat), read from the USGS FDSN event web service, with the ShakeMap and Did You Feel It? summaries published with each event.
- U.S. Geological Survey, U.S. Landslide Inventory: Landslide Inventories across the United States, version 3.0 (February 2025), a compilation of state, federal and other inventories, read from the USGS feature services.
- U.S. Census Bureau, TIGERweb state boundaries, used to assign epicenters to a state.
Each result states the publishing agency, service, query period and retrieval time. Records are read live and held for up to ten minutes to limit repeat requests.

Scope and support
These are catalog records of past events. They are not a forecast or prediction, a building-safety, engineering, geotechnical or insurance determination, or an alerting or warning source. Catalog completeness varies by magnitude, region and era, and older and smaller earthquakes are under-recorded. The landslide inventory compiles existing inventories of differing scope and date; absence of a record does not establish absence of landslides. GovBot is not affiliated with or endorsed by the U.S. Geological Survey, the Census Bureau or any government agency.
